Desnogorsk reservoir - (reservoir of the Smolensk NPP) reservoir in the European part of Russia in the Smolensk region.

But the population of this fish in the waters of the Desnogorsk reservoir is not yet very large. Such an exotic migrant as telapia is also excellently caught in the summer. In summer, this fish disperses throughout the entire water area of the reservoir, and in winter it gathers in those places where the water is always warm.

Fishing in the Desnogorsk reservoir for silver carp is very popular. Often, local fishermen catch huge silver carps weighing 30-40 kg, but, according to local fishermen, this is not the limit, occasionally specimens weighing over 60 kg come across! This is due to the fact that silver carp fishing became popular in this reservoir just a few years ago. However, poachers have been catching this fish with nets for a long time and are now catching it.

The main food of this fish consists of zooplankton and, according to all concepts, it is almost impossible to catch a silver carp with a fishing rod. But in life this is not so, the silver carp takes well on various nozzles that are designed for peaceful fish. But the silver carp just as willingly takes both lure and live bait, in those places where there is a shortage of zooplankton. The most effective way to catch silver carp is as follows, a nozzle with a small float descends into the middle layers of the water, and a cloud of bait is created next to it (it is better if it is flavored with vanilla). The best nozzle in this case is bread crumb, green peas and popcorn.

As for the cold season, winter fishing on the Desnogorsk reservoir is very active. In winter, zander and perch are perfectly caught on balancers and baubles, pike are successfully caught on vents. It is not bad to catch roach, bream, silver bream and crucian carp in the winter on the reservoir. But crucian, like other cyprinids, prefers to be in places where the water remains warm even in winter. Today we went fishing to the Desnogorsk reservoir in the area of the exit from the Kolpino backwater. The weather was great. I don’t really like this part of the reservoir because of its little study, but I wanted to wander around the expanses of the reservoir, even more than to catch fish)))

And here we are. The road was more or less normal to the place. Lech went to catch bream, but Ivan and I went to look for perch. In the first places it was just generally quiet for fish, although we used to catch perches there. And the search began))) I went to look for a predator, but along the way I looked through different depths with an echo sounder. It is interesting to see what is happening in the depths))) But the fish did not show up in the echo sounder either. Then I went to the other side and found an overgrown melyak there. I drilled, but I didn’t even see a poke at anything))) How can it be))) An excellent place where perches simply must be, maybe not large, but they are. I went fishing, but I didn’t see a single bite)) Moved towards the Borovets backwater. In disappointment, I already took out a lure with a small lure. And only after going through several holes I saw a kind of touch of the spinner with a perch O_o in the next hole I caught my first perch)))

I went further along the coast and caught another one a little more .. strange, but at least something))) I was already thinking that I wouldn’t catch cats either, but it would be generally sad))) I'm sure that there simply must be a perch. I came and immediately caught a normal perch in the first hole.

He began to wander around the holes and periodically took out small perches. It pecked very badly, but the number of perches in the bag still grew, which means that the cats will already be happy. I decide to try to catch the bulldozer. I walked and went to Lekha to see how things are with the breams. With bream, everything was also sad ... I went through the echo sounder, but did not see any accumulations. Wandered back to melyak to catch perch. I caught small ones and one normal one and that's it ... It's time to move home.

I know this place very well. I usually set up a camp either on the shore at the entrance to it or on the opposite bank of the reservoir - I like it better there.
The place is so-so - not really there with fish, at least for legal gear. It’s a bit small there, almost without drops - 4-4.5 m, at the entrance 6-6.5 m. The bream is not large (before they did not catch more than 800 g); crucian carp, rarely molt in the grass. According to the echo sounder, there is not a lot of fish - there are much more interesting places near the fairway, not far from the entrance to this arm. At least a flock of bream hangs constantly, and next to it, the perch is just spinning. True, a longitudinal wave along the reservoir can interfere with fishing on the fairway.
The only point I have at the end of this bay is a pike point. For the last 2 fishing trips, I caught 5 pieces there.
The monster that broke the whip is a crimson silver carp. There is enough of this blunt-nosed beast from 20 kg and above. According to rumors and 60kg is not uncommon.

Sergey and I planned this fishing last week. Even the expected weather did not change our plans. Sergey and his father arrived at the place on Friday 15.07 right after lunch. By the time my father and I arrived, they had been plowing the expanses of the reservoir for a long time. The result was not pleasing - 1 small perch and a few empty poke-blows.
The temperature of the upper layer of water - 27gr. The thickness of this layer is about 1.2 m. Swimming after the road is just a thrill!
Two crews continued to fish at sunset - the result is ZERO! But then the evening gatherings in the tent were a success!
On Saturday morning, July 16, we continued fishing. Around 6.00 I took the first fanged 1.2kg! Then I caught a few smaller ones.
Things did not work out right away for Sergei and his father. but then they took the lead in one fell swoop, taking 1.4kg perch and 3.8kg toad!
By the middle of the day, the gripping-poking almost stopped completely. Occasionally, my wobblers were attacked by peep-sized fanged beasts!
Moreover, small zanders (200-400gr) attacked even rather large wobblers - 14cm.
Around 16.00 Sergey and his father left. We periodically continued to catch. But after 19.00 grip stopped completely. During the day I caught 11 zander (5 released), my father took a couple of pikes (1kg each) and a zander. There were also a couple of descents of medium-sized fish, and an unfortunate failure of a good pike (2.5 kg or a little more) near the boat itself on the last bite with me.
At sunset, a thundercloud appeared from Shmakovo. The storm rumbled twice during the night. Moreover, from 2 to 3, lightning and thunder struck 10-15 times per minute! All this splendor was accompanied by a downpour, it’s good that the wind was not very strong - the tent and the tent were not broken.
In the morning of 17.07 everything calmed down and we continued fishing. The water cooled down to 26g. Until almost 7 in the morning there was not a poke, but then luck was favorable to my father - a 2.9 kg pike! He is new to trolling and this is his biggest trophy so far. The shooting quality is certainly not very good, but it's not so easy to hold the camera in one hand and try to put the grip into the pike's mouth with the other! By the way, in the background you can see the bay, which was discussed in the reports of Kholmets.
After a while, I slightly recouped with a medium-sized perch. But the final point was still put by the father - a 1.5 kg pike. Around 9.00 a thundercloud began to stretch again and we decided to finish fishing.
Some features of the distribution of fish in our fishing area.
A flock of medium-sized pike-perch hung in the water floor at the end of the passage on a small penny - 30m.
Pike were caught 2 at the beginning and at the end of the passage, only one in the center.
The center of the passage, where more or less decent pike perch came across last time, was silent.
On a moonlit night from Friday to Saturday, the fish splashed well under the shore - it is quite possible that the pike perch has become fat. Another fact leads to the same idea - one of the zanders burped out of the stomach of a plucked loach that began to digest, which lives in coastal grass at depths of up to 1.5 m. The nearest such shore was located 150 m from the place where the fanged one was caught.

The reservoir is large, I won’t indicate specific places (and I don’t know that much, I haven’t been everywhere) - I’ll tell you where there are entrances to the water. Orient yourself on a satellite map - we seem to live in the 21st century.

Oleg, if I'm not mistaken, you chose a place in the Novoye Korenevo area. Right next to both Desnogorsk and the station. Take a look at the map and you will understand that you can count on something global there - no fish, no rest!
Places they usually go to:
1. The coast from the Troyanovsky fault (channel to the left of Novotroyanovo) to Bogdanovo. There are not many congresses, not every puzoterka can be driven!
2. The coast in Desnogorsk itself - well, it probably makes no sense to go there several hundred miles away, and the locals fish well there. Fishing is prohibited on the reservoir dam.
3. Kukuevka area (dacha village - on the map opposite Novotroyanovo is a light green cape, streets and plots are visible) - a small area up and to the left from the dachas to the narrow bay. Good sandy coast.
4. The area of the Solozha backwater - the village of Novosloveni-Myatka or on the other side - the road through Desnogorsk-Saveevo-Klin. They also go to the Kolpino backwater - the village of Kolpino.
5. In the Kholmets area, there is a place in the backwater near Aleshchenki, there is also a kind of exit to the right of the bridge.
On the other side there is an exit to the right to the backwater, a little further the road to Kolpino-Novosloveni.
Opposite the turnaround on Kolpino-Novosloveni there is a primer to the left - there are good places to relax. I've been fishing there lately. My camp is usually on the opposite bank opposite the backwater near Aleshchenki.
6. From Smolensk through Pochinok, many people go to the Shmakovo region - to the opposite bank across the bridge, and there you can go left and right to Stryan. There are not many places on the Shmakovsky coast itself and the roads are not Ice.
I won’t send it specifically to any place - collect information, and the first time is always a sighting. But it is better to choose a place near or inside with some kind of tributary creek, so that in case of windy weather you can find a calm place on the water.

Lots of snag. You can be left without all the feeders for the first half hour. There are not so many coastal open places - it is better to catch on the spin from a boat, and in some places only from it. Not everywhere there are beaches. Nature, in principle, is nothing - in places pines with birches and sand. There are few mosquitoes, horseflies too, ticks can come across.
PS From the first time it is unlikely that you will be able to understand this reservoir, but nevertheless the reservoir is very interesting, and the fish is still found. A motor planing boat can really help - in 3-4 hours you can skip almost the entire reservoir in search of interesting places with an echo sounder and a navigator, in calm weather, of course!

Friend Seryoga and his father fell on Desnar at lunch on Friday - to score a place. I arrived at 20:00 with my family. All day long a strong breeze blew, which drove not a weak wave. All Sergey's attempts to catch in conditions when the wave overwhelms the boat were not very successful - one small perch was caught. At sunset, the wind died down a little and we tried to look for the fanged one in two boats. And oddly enough, he moved a little - Sergei and his father have zanders + getting off and a few pokes; we have three bitches. True, I had a stupid incident - one zander (per kilo) gained freedom by jumping out of an unclosed bucket standing under a can of a boat. There, the gap was only just for him to crawl through, but he jumped like a dolphin, hit the side, and only we saw him!
A child caught two zander in my boat, and I only took fish near the boat - a new generation of fishermen is growing!
From the morning of 23.07 we continued fishing. Fish activity is minimal. The wave, although small, made it difficult to catch. With great difficulty I caught 3 small pike perch - the smallest one was released. Sergey and his father managed to take one fanged one and a couple of more or less decent pikes (around 10-11 o'clock).
By noon the wind had become very strong again. The clouds around came, sometimes rumbling. It was cloudy almost all day. No fishing - no grips. Sergei and his father packed up at 4 pm and left. We waited for a concrete thunderstorm with a heavy downpour in the evening. After her, everything seemed to calm down, the wife caught a small perch - they let her grow up. Sunset brought only one pike per kilo - again the child excelled!
This morning the weather has changed - partly cloudy, a weak breeze, turned almost 180 degrees compared to yesterday. There seems to be no pike perch - no poke, no grip! To get away from zero allowed a pike per kilogram.
Around 10:30 we sailed home.

This weekend I didn’t catch it myself, but I have information on catching good zander!

We decided to explore in two boats a new section of the reservoir for us - the confluence of the Stryany-Desna, at least none of us had caught trolling there before. On Friday, after a short survey near the lying water area, we wonderfully washed the brand new water-motor license of the captain of the second boat Sergey - categories VP and VVP!
On Saturday from morning to evening they were fanatically looking for zander. Both in the old places and in the new ones. The result is practically ZERO - rare small pike perch (from pipisochnikov to half a kilo) and perches. "Record" was my pike at sunset - 1.2 kg! We looked closely at the surroundings - the small perch is simply swarming around flocks of fry that have risen to the surface. Kolka from nefig to do even from the shore caught a few very small okushar on a turntable. There is also enough pike perch - at least in the nets of vacationers, it comes across not so rarely! There are not many nets, but to hell with their fragments on snags, which makes it quite difficult to catch. In one place, with a piece of netting, an already swollen corpse of pike perch was floating, looking over 4 kg.
My plans (to thoroughly examine the chosen place) were suddenly interrupted by the failure of the echo sounder in the late afternoon. It’s not even easy to look for pike perch blindly!
On Sunday we fished both in the old places and in the new ones - the result was almost zero. Occasionally came across a trifle. But still, fortune turned to face me - one good grip, and a 2.5 kg perch in my hands!
PS And hell knows what the fanged one needs - he didn’t really please us this weekend. At least for wobblers, there is practically no result at all! Yes, and the familiar "jigit" from the previous message went home after two hours of fishing in the evening - as if there was no pike perch!

Meeting of friends at the Desnogorsk reservoir (Kholmets)
We left Ivanteevka at 5 am on September 2. We are I, Slava (Vrungel) and Sergey. Minka was more or less free. At 225 km, they "picked up" a camera lost by Columbus. The road to the DVH is normal, only 15 km to the place it turned from asphalt into a sand and gravel grater. We arrived at the place around 13:00. We were warmly welcomed, fed and watered. There were already 8 people there. Having driven 200m, we started to fish. The bite was sluggish, something came across, but nothing outstanding was caught.
Met a neighbor fisherman. It turned out that he had been living in a tent on the shore since July. Then three more local natives came to visit him.
We fished until dark, and then, leaving the fishing rods and feeders on the river, we went to the main camp.
At night, by the light of a lantern, freshwater shrimp with claws swim up to the shallows. Funny creatures.
After 2 hours, we returned to the place and found that our gear was not on the shore, as well as a backpack, a fishing box and bait! The outrage knew no bounds. No one remembers such a case! In hot pursuit, together with the rest of the guys began an investigation. The next day, all 3 natives were found. They all went into confusion. Having combed the surroundings, near the tent of a neighbor fisherman, they found our feeders and fishing rods ... but they did not find a fishing box and a backpack in which the video camera lay. So the second day we spent in search of the truth and there was no time for fishing!
On the third day, having restored the gear, we started fishing and ... caught a silver carp weighing 14-16 kg (there were no scales). Everyone ran away! Joy knew no bounds. We decided to cook it right away. It also contained caviar, so much so that it was enough for a large frying pan! It was not possible to cut this monster with a knife, so they chopped it into pieces with an ax. Ready! The silver carp turned out to be, by all accounts, tasty and there was so much of it that they ate it the next day.
On the fourth day, before 10 o'clock in the morning, they caught fish. There were scavengers, roach, zander, perch and bleak. Moreover, the bleak was the size of an Ivasi herring. We saw how a shoal of bleak 200 meters long was walking along the river.
On the way back, and we were returning along the Kaluga highway, we stopped in the forest and picked up aspen and birch boletus. Arrived home around 24:00.
