Last year, the international manufacturer of tea and coffee products Orimi-Trade celebrated its 20th anniversary. Although, perhaps, not every tea lover and connoisseur is familiar with the name of the brand, its brands are certainly well known in most countries of the post-Soviet space. We are, of course, talking about “Princesses”. “Princess Kandy”, “Princess Nuri”, “Princess Gita”, “Princess Java” - there is hardly anyone among lovers of an invigorating refreshing drink who has never tried tea from the “family of princesses”.
However, the Orimi-Trade company is not limited to “Princesses” and is constantly expanding its range. Today on the market it is also represented by tea brands “Greenfied”, “TESS”, “Shah”, “Pearl of the Nile” and coffee brands “Jockey” and “Jardin” - in total over 350 items in more than 40 countries around the world. However, the company came to this after overcoming a long and thorny path, confirming its reputation with experience and the right decisions.
In 1994, Princess Kandy tea first appeared on the shelves of Russian stores. At that time, the tea market was going through hard times. Finding really high-quality and inexpensive tea seemed an almost impossible task. Lovers of family tea parties greeted the appearance of “Princess Kandy” with a bang. The sonorous name, beautiful packaging, and most importantly, excellent price/quality ratio made the first Orimi-Trade product a very popular brand.
This success gave the company a remarkable impetus for development. Already next year, new “princesses” will enter the market: “Princess Gita”, “Princess Nuri” and “Princess Java”; a subsidiary company “Orimi-Trade” is opened in neighboring Ukraine, which is actively developing the national market. The next stage of development was the development of Kazakhstan. In 1996, the first subsidiary of the Orimi company appeared there.
In subsequent years, the company actively and dynamically develops, increasing its market share. Teas from the “Princess” series are becoming popular and recognizable. Many families enjoy their favorite drink from the Orimi company every day. “Princesses” harmoniously combine the charm and aroma of the East, pleasant astringency and excellent strength of tea, which makes them an integral attribute of evening tea drinking.
At Orimi, they haven’t forgotten about coffee lovers. In 1999, the leader of the tea market launched Jockey coffee. And here the company does not change its principles and standards - to make high-quality goods accessible to the majority of our compatriots. Meanwhile, the Orimi tea factory was founded in the Leningrad region, the first line of which was launched next year. Tea-packing production begins to function in Ukraine.
2001 brought many innovations. The Orimi factory is now also engaged in coffee production. Orimi specialists are the first in Russia to introduce an innovative system for the production of ground coffee in vacuum packaging. Of course, this had a positive impact on the growth dynamics of the popularity and sales of “Jockey”. At the same time, the company opens a representative office in Moscow and a tea factory in Kyrgyzstan.
The dynamics of Orimi's development are increasing like a snowball. In 2002, an official representative office was opened in Belarus, and the national tea brand “Shah” was launched in Kazakhstan. The company's share in the coffee and tea markets is growing non-stop, which leads to an increase in the production capacity of factories and the number of employees.
In subsequent years, Orimi-Trade has been actively expanding geographically. Representative offices of the company appear in the regions of Russia. In 2003, tea lovers in Kazakhstan appreciated the new brand “Pearl of the Nile”. Innovations continue to be introduced in production technologies. For the first time in Russia, Orimi begins to produce coffee beans in special packages with a valve. An important achievement of the same year was an agreement on exclusive representation with the company Greenfield Tea Ltd. This is how the first packages of Greenfield tea appeared on the shelves. With this, “Orimi-Trade” pleased true tea gourmets. And today Greenfield remains one of the leading brands among elite teas. From a marketing point of view, this move was very correct and timely: the crisis of the 90s was left behind, tea lovers turned their attention to more expensive varieties, and a new brand of elite tea with an original technological solution and a variety of flavors and blends quickly and very organically fit into the market.
In 2004, in the natural coffee market of the Russian Federation, the Jockey brand took first place as the best-selling brand.
In 2007, new elite tea and coffee brands were introduced to the market: “TESS” and “Jirdin”, which quickly occupy confident positions in the niche.
Since 2005, Orimi-trade has been an active player in the export market. The company's products are supplied to Germany, Estonia, Israel, the USA, Canada, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, China, Norway, the Czech Republic and a huge number of countries near and far abroad.
"Orimi-trade" today
Today, Orimi-Trade is a successful, actively developing international company that occupies not just strong, but leading positions in the markets of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Moldova.
According to preliminary estimates, the company's production capacity produces more than 85,000 tons of tea and coffee products per year. The Orimi factory is the largest high-tech enterprise in the industry in Eastern Europe.
Great attention is also paid to the development and implementation of advanced technologies. This is what makes Orimi-Trade products one of the best on the market. Packaging of tea and coffee at the company's enterprises is carried out in special protected conditions, allowing the consumer to always receive a fresh product with excellent taste.
For the production of tea and coffee, only the best high-quality raw materials are used from plantations in India, Ceylon, China, Kenya, Indonesia and Vietnam. Coffee beans are supplied directly from Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala and Ethiopia. Before reaching your table in the form of your favorite drink, all raw materials go through many stages of selection and certification so that the consumer can enjoy truly high quality and wonderful aroma.
Which tea to choose?
It is very easy to get confused among the many varieties of tea produced by Orimi-Trade: black, green, red, herbal, with or without additives. And also a large sheet, a medium sheet, granules, bagged, and what not.
To bring some clarity to this infinite multitude, you can try to figure it out using the example of the classics - the well-known “Princesses”.
As we noted above, the first tea released by the company was “Princess Kandy”. This is a classic Ceylon tea; for more than twenty years, the original “Kandy” has remained virtually unchanged. Bagged options with the addition of fruit and berry options have been added to the collection. Also in the series there is the mysterious “Earl Grey” - this name, or the more adapted “Earl Grey”, is used to call varieties of tea with the addition of bergamot aroma. The tea gets its name from the Prime Minister of the British Empire, Earl Charles Grey, who is credited by some with introducing a new and unusual tea into everyday use.
- Princess "Nuri".
This brand is a logical continuation of the previous one. Released a year after Kandy, Princess Noori took the best of everything and went even further to better suit the tastes of discerning tea drinkers. The collection contains varieties of tea from different parts of the world, as well as flavored options. This is the pride of the company and the favorite brand of millions of consumers.
After Ceylon, Orimi turned its attention to India - a country full of mysteries and refined aromas. Thus the brand “Princess Gita” was born. Indian tea, with its tart taste, also has many fans. Subsequently, a flavored line was added to the series.
This “Princess” is a compliment from “Orimi-trade” to green tea lovers. It was thanks to “Princess Java” that green tea became available to a wide range of consumers. Green tea "Princess Java" comes from China, Vietnam and even Indonesia. The collection of green teas also includes fruit varieties to suit every taste. Also worthy of attention is the red hibiscus drink made from hibiscus flowers, a collection of herbal teas and the South African ethnic drink mate. You will find all this in Princess Java.
All “Princesses” are available in a wide variety of versions: large sheets, medium sheets, granules, and bagged options. A separate achievement of Orimi-Trade is the launch of a production line for loose leaf tea in pyramid bags. When choosing tea, any connoisseur will tell you: “The larger, the better.” You can truly enjoy the full taste and aroma of tea with large-leaf varieties. But a small leaf means faster and easier brewing. Bagged tea is quick and convenient, but the quality usually suffers. Pyramid bags produced by Orimi-Trade are a step towards combining the quality of loose leaf tea and the convenience of bagged tea.
The products of the Orimi-Trade company are the winner of a huge number of nominations and awards. In just a few recent years a number of the company’s trademarks have been repeatedly recognized as “Product of the Year” in Russian Federation. The list of awards and achievements of Orimi can be listed for a long time, but the main achievement is consumer recognition. The statistics speak for themselves: today every 3rd cup of tea drunk in Russia is produced by Orimi-Trade.
The company's management does not stand still; their plans are to develop more and more new horizons, expand the geography and range of the company, and introduce new equipment and technologies. Of course, over more than 20 years of its existence, Orimi-Trade has changed dramatically. But one thing has remained unchanged: just like back in 1994, today the company is doing everything possible so that you can happily pass the time with your family or friends over a cup of hot aromatic tea, and in the morning cheer yourself up and lift your spirits with a cup of invigorating coffee. The main thing is always inside: just like twenty years ago, today “Orimi-trade” is, first of all, a large and friendly family, a family of princesses.
The Orimi Trade company was founded in 1994 and quickly achieved success: the creation of its own brands, the constant pursuit of the highest quality tea while maintaining affordable prices, have justified themselves.
In 2000, the Nevskie Porogi tea-packing factory, equipped with the most modern imported equipment, was built and put into operation in the Leningrad region. The presence of its own production allows Orimi Trade to ensure constant quality control of tea products at all stages of their production, and to carry out stable supplies of a wide range of tea and coffee products to all corners of Russia and neighboring countries.
"Orimi Trade" is a confident leader in the Russian tea market. The geography of tea supplies includes Ceylon, India, China, Indonesia, Kenya and Vietnam. According to independent research, the brands "Princess Nuri", "Princess Java", "Princess Gita" and "Princess Kandy" account for about 30% of consumer demand. This means that every third cup of tea drunk in Russia is produced by Orimi Trade.
The logical development for Orimi Trade was the entry into the market of the second most popular hot drink - coffee. In 1999, natural coffee was released under the JOCKEY brand. Later, JOCKEY was joined by other brands - Regal, Magic Plantation and Monsignor.
Since 2001, the Orimi Trade plant has operated a workshop equipped with the latest technology for processing green coffee beans, roasting, grinding and packaging finished coffee products in vacuum packaging. A new workshop for packaging instant coffee in cans and glass jars is being prepared for commissioning.
JOCKEY occupies about 30% of the consumer market for natural roasted coffee in Russia. To create a wide palette of coffee flavors, Orimi Trade purchases green coffee beans in 15 countries, the main ones being Brazil, Bolivia, India, Indonesia and Colombia.
Production
The company produces tea and coffee under the brands Greenfield, Princess Noori, Princess Java, Princess Gita, Princess Kandy, Jockey, Regal, Magic Plantation and Monsignor.
Tea production
But what do they do with tea at the factory? First of all, it is cleaned - a complex multi-stage filtration system ensures that only selected tea leaves and nothing foreign will end up in further processing - and then on our table.
Then the tea is blended - or mixed. This is done in order to create tea with the optimal balance of taste, aroma, strength and color of the infusion. And besides, the harvest on tea plantations changes throughout the year, and in order for us to always get the same taste when brewing our favorite tea, several - sometimes up to ten - varieties of tea from different plantations and collected in different places are mixed each time. season.
All these operations at the Orimi Trade factory are completely mechanized. Smart machines accurately perform and automatically control each operation and the entire process. Thanks to the modern equipment of the factory, Orimi Trade can quickly respond to changes in consumer demand, develop the range of its products and guarantee consumers excellent quality tea, and first of all, its freshness.
Coffee production
Factory processing of coffee consists of roasting beans, blending - that is, making a mixture of several varieties to obtain the desired taste, grinding - if ground coffee is needed, and packaging. The taste and aroma of the coffee drink depends on the correct execution of each of these operations: under-roasted coffee will be sour, over-roasted coffee will be bitter, coffee that is too finely or too coarsely ground will be unpredictable when brewed. It should also be taken into account that each type of coffee requires its own special roasting conditions. Sometimes even a temperature change of 2-3 degrees can spoil the coffee. At the Orimi Trade factory, such accidents are excluded - all processes are controlled by computers. Of course, an experienced roaster constantly monitors what is happening, but the computer exercises complete control over all processes. Experts say that the combination of “smart” equipment and an experienced person gives excellent results: coffee from “Orimi Trade” always has a rich aroma and pleasant taste - thanks to proper roasting and grinding. Packaging also plays a special role here, which helps preserve the freshness of the coffee.
The Orimi Trade group, founded in 1994, is today known throughout Russia and far beyond its borders. The headquarters of the organization is located in St. Petersburg; 75 official representative offices of Orimi Trade have also been opened in the regions; subsidiaries operate in Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The type of activity consists of importing raw materials for the production of tea and coffee, the actual production of tea and coffee products for consumption, promoting brands in the domestic market and in other countries.
90s: start of activity
For Orimi Trade LLC, its debut on the Russian market was the release of black Ceylon tea “Princess Kandy” (1994). A year later, the tea brands “Princess Nuri”, “Princess Java”, “Princess Gita” were developed and launched. In 1996, Orimi Trade was noted among Russian importers and entered the top six leading suppliers in the industry. In the same year, an official visit of Russian tea companies to India took place, and the delegation, of course, included S. Kasyanenko, Chairman of the Board of Orimi. 1996 became a busy year for the company: a subsidiary was opened in Kazakhstan.
The real breakthrough happened in 1997, when the famous tea brands “Princesses...” won 12% of the Russian tea market. Already in 1998, the Orimi Trade company became one of the three most popular tea enterprises in Russia. In the late 90s, a production facility for packing and packaging teas was opened in St. Petersburg. The rapid development of the tea company did not stop for a moment, and already in 1999 the Kyrgyz subsidiary company was founded, a new coffee brand "Jockey" entered the market, and tea brands filled the market by 20%, thanks to which the Orimi Trade group of companies earned the title of leader in the tea industry. industries in the Russian market.
2000s: progress and international success
The beginning of the new millennium turned out to be fruitful: tea-packing production was partially opened at the factory, and tea and coffee products were exported to Moldova and Belarus. The company's first branch was opened in Moscow only in 2001; also this year, manufacturers took the path of innovation: they launched the production of ground coffee and, for the first time in the Russian Federation, packaged it in vacuum packaging.
This was followed by the consolidation of the business, the expansion of factory capacity, the production of new granulated tea "Shah", and Belarus received the official representative office of the company on its territory. The achievements of 2003 so enriched the history of Orimi Trade that it is appropriate to list them:
- products TM "Princess Gita" and "Princess Nuri" receive the quality mark "Best in Russia" from the independent Union of Consumers;
- innovative packaging for that time with a valve for coffee beans first appeared at the Orimi production;
- new tea products are presented - TM "Pearl of the Nile";
- as a result of an agreement reached with a British company, the promotion of Greenfield tea begins;
- the manufacturing company Orimi Trade presents its products at the Green Week exhibition in Berlin;
- The company's regional network is being actively built in Russia;
- the beginning of an official partnership with the National Beach Soccer Association.
In 2004, the authoritative Forbes magazine noted the successes of Orimi Trade; the editors placed the company in the ranking of the 200 largest private companies in the Russian Federation.
Also, the number of foreign representative offices was replenished by the Moldavian branch. In 2005, management set a course for modernization and began selling products to European countries (Germany, Estonia). Already in 2006, the export geography expanded to Georgia, Israel, and Armenia. The Expert publication recognized Orimi as one of the four hundred largest companies in Russia. The production facility has launched the process of making flavored coffee.
2007 was characterized by the signing of a contract with the Swiss and the launch of the Jardin coffee brand, as well as TESS premium tea. The production has implemented the technology of double roasting of coffee beans and packaging in a protective environment. Latvia and Lithuania become importers of Orimi products.
In 2008, two markets opened at once for the products of the Russian manufacturer: American and Hungarian, and in their homeland, high-quality products were recognized with the “Product of the Year” award. In 2009, the conquest of foreign markets continues: tea and coffee from Orimi Trade appears on store shelves in Canada, Poland, Taiwan, Uzbekistan, New Zealand and other countries.
Recent history: a course towards innovation and quality control
2010 - the beginning of the production of tea in pyramid bags, Mongols and Tajiks get the opportunity to buy products in their countries, and next year Azerbaijanis join them. 2012 - export to China, the Czech Republic, and Norway was opened. Orimi Trade is an LLC trading and manufacturing company that received a number of serious awards in 2013: winner of the National Business Rating, “Product of the Year 2013”. In 2014, the company celebrated its twentieth anniversary since its founding. In subsequent years, the brands owned by Orimi were rethought and rebranded. The international quality standard ISO 22000 was introduced at the factory for the true safety of food products; currently the factory has reached the new requirements of ISO 22000:2005.
Current range of tea and coffee
There is no point in listing more than 450 items; we will focus on the main brands, from the most affordable to the elite:
- Pearl of the Nile;
- Princess Gita;
- Princess Kandy;
- Jockey;
- Princess Java;
- Princess Nuri;
- Jardin;
- TESS;
- Greenfield.
Raw materials for tea production are brought from Ceylon, China, Japan, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Kenya. 85 thousand tons is the annual volume of products produced - Orimi Trade tea and coffee.
Company " Orimi Trade“is one of the leaders of the Russian tea market, and now it is already quite confidently beginning to occupy its niche in the coffee market.
The founders of the company, Alexander Evnevich and Sergei Kasyanenko, who had previously been successfully selling food products (flour, stewed meat and sugar), in 1994 entered the tea market with the same confidence.
Already in 2000, the tea-packing factory “Nevskie Porogi” opened its doors in the Leningrad region, producing products under its own brands: Princess Kandy, Princess Gita, Princess Nuri, Princess Java.
According to data obtained by independent research, a third of the tea consumed in Russia comes from these brands.
This is facilitated by the company's desire to produce high-quality tea while maintaining low prices.
How successfully this is achieved can apparently be judged by consumer demand. In the segment of inexpensive tea, the Orimi Trade company is a clear leader.
Princess Nuri
This is a fairly large series of different types of tea, which is based on large and medium-leaf Ceylon tea, in its pure form or with the addition of Indian and Kenyan tea. Available in loose, granular and bagged form. This also includes flavored black teas.
Princess Kandy
Another trademark of the Orimi Trade company.
This series is based on inexpensive strong Ceylon tea. In loose form there is only one type, which is a blend of medium-leaf and small-leaf Ceylon tea. The bags contain the same black tea with and without labels, and several types of flavored tea.
Princess Gita
Leaf or granulated Indian tea, brews almost instantly, has a strong rich taste, and tones well. Available both loose and bagged. The bags, in turn, contain pure black tea and black flavored tea.
Princess Java
The series is represented by green teas from China, Indonesia, Vietnam, as well as hibiscus and mate. All these types are available in pure form and flavored.
In addition to the officially announced brands, there are teas produced under the control of Orimi Trade for the Greenfield company. I found out about this quite by accident, having bought a package that disappointed me.
