Bangkok is one of the most visited cities in Thailand. It is here that not only the main attractions of the country are concentrated, but also huge shopping centers offering visitors a wide range of goods. Why is Thai shopping so popular among Russian tourists? First of all, these are the lowest prices throughout Thailand, which will especially please residents of provincial cities. All Thai products are famous for their excellent workmanship; in addition, shopping in Thailand is always an appropriate bargaining experience.
This shopping center can easily be included in the list of the oldest shopping areas in Bangkok. For the most part, Siam Center Bangkok is aimed at young people. Various sporting goods, surfing and skateboarding equipment are sold here. Siam Center Bangkok can easily be considered one of the best shopping centers in Bangkok according to reviews from many tourists.
Terminal 21
Terminal 21 shopping center is the newest Thai shopping mall. This is a truly amazing place, each floor of which represents the culture of a different country. The name of the shopping center comes from the fact that in appearance it resembles an airport building. A visitor can easily travel to different world capitals simply by changing floor by floor. Here every tourist can find products to suit his taste, ranging from little-known Thai brands to established companies such as Adidas, Nike or Levi’s.
This is a rather specific shopping center in Bangkok. Amarin Plaza is more suitable for expensive shopping, since many sections are dedicated to exclusive wellness treatments and sports activities. Here you can buy quality Thai products and other luxury items.
Gaysorn
Another contender for the list of luxury shopping centers in Thailand. This is a prestigious store created in a unique and inimitable style, the basis of which is set by the presence of white marble and shiny chrome. Gaysorn is not intended for budget shopping; only the most exquisite goods from world brands are concentrated in this place.
Tax Free
A pleasant tax refund procedure awaits every tourist who arrives in Thailand and makes a purchase for a certain amount of money. The Tax Free system in this exotic country has a slightly different name - VAT Refund and guarantees a 7% refund of the total amount for which the purchase was made.
What are the rules for VAT Refund?
The Thai VAT Refund system is a special yellow form in A4 format with an original receipt from the store attached. In addition, there are a number of rules for filing taxes in Thailand:
- Firstly, the amount of a single purchase must be over 2,000 baht to receive a special receipt attached to the form.
- Secondly, the total amount of all purchases must exceed the 5,000 baht mark.
Before shopping, you should make sure that the store operates under the VAT Refund system, as evidenced by the specialized blue and white logo shown in the photo below.
In order to take full advantage of VAT Refund services, you must:
- Be a tourist.
- Not be on the crew list of one of the airlines.
- Fly out of the country through one of the international airports.
- The purchase period must not exceed 60 days.
Conclusion
Many large shopping centers in Bangkok practice a generous system of discounts, and also periodically hold large sales, where prices for most of the products presented are reduced several times at once. Thailand is a country of contrasts, full of surprises! Happy shopping!
Recently there was an episode of a popular travel show, where a guy and a girl went to Bangkok specifically for shopping. A must watch!
Now we will tell you about the current places for shopping, or more precisely, about the five best.
You can get acquainted with all the shopping centers that are in Bangkok
Shopping centers and shopping malls in Bangkok
It must be said that shopping in Thailand, if properly organized, will definitely bring a lot of pleasure and not only to women!
Firstly, all shopping centers in Bangkok are equipped with powerful air conditioners. You will walk through a huge multi-story world of shopping and selling in the presence of a pleasant coolness. In addition, on the ground floors there are always many cafes and shops where for one dollar they will make you a delicious mango shake or any other fruit to take with you.
Secondly, all trading platforms are well structured. That is, in 8 out of 10 stores, goods and food will always be on sale on the first floor, and on the second floor there will be a department for the home and electronics. The third is clothing for men; the fourth is for women. Sometimes these two floors can be seen in one. There are also separate floors of cosmetic products or they can be presented on the ground floor. At the market, each shop offers something different: saucepans along with flip-flops and other funny variations. In shopping centers, everything is very convenient and logical - one floor is dedicated to a single or several types of goods.
Thirdly: VAT Refund! So, now I’ll try to explain what kind of animal this is!
In Thailand, tourists are refunded VAT (value added tax) - as much as 7% of the cost of the item. This is called VAT REFUND or Tax Free. But to get this nice bonus, you need to be well prepared.
Important: the minimum amount for a tax refund for shopping is 2000 baht in one receipt. You should have at least 5,000 baht of such checks. If the amount is less, you can forget about VAT refund. The vat refund will be returned upon departure from the country, after check-in at the airport. Don't expect to get 7% back right under the store.
- We go shopping only with a photocopy of your passport! You will need his details.
- Make a purchase of at least 2,000 baht in a store marked with this icon. You can enter the store without the appropriate sticker. Just ask the seller if they will give you a refund. In 99% of cases they will do it.
- Ask the same seller for form No. 10 and fill it out in accordance with your passport. No errors or corrections.
- Each such form No. 10 must be accompanied by a receipt from the store, do not lose your receipts!
- Having collected such checks for at least 5 thousand baht, we leave them in our hand luggage. It is important not to inadvertently put them in your luggage.
- Now, at the Bangkok airport, after checking in for the flight, we look for the counter with the inscription Customs Officer. Ask the workers, they will tell you or even guide you.
- Let's get our money in baht and run to Duty Free!
Now let's look at which shopping centers are worth going to for shopping.
Royal Choice: Siam Centr, Siam Discovery and Siam Paragon
Address: 991/1 1st Floor, Rama I Road, Bangkok 10330, Thailand.
Tel: +66 2 610 8000
Opening hours: 10:00 - 22:00
How to get there: located in the center, within walking distance from Bayokskaya. All three shopping centers belong to the same company “Siam Piwat” and are united not only by a common owner, name and territory, but also by a convenient access system from one center to another. If you take the Skytrain, the stop is called Siam; from there there are air connections to all the shops at once.
Watch a video tour of these luxurious places.
Siam Center
In the photo you can clearly see the exits from the elevated metro on the left.
Siam Center is one of Bangkok's oldest and most significant shopping centers. It was opened very first, back in 1973. On 4 floors of the Siam Center there are more than 300 shops for young and old people, 20 restaurants and a huge food court with dishes for every taste. SkyBridge connects the last fourth floor of the Siam Center with its younger brother - Siam Discovery, and the platform between them hosts concerts and other entertainment events. They sell a lot of Thai goods here. Prices are reasonable, for example, the average cost of a T-shirt is 300 baht, women's jeans - from 500, accessories and bags - from 250.
Siam Center, in comparison with other megamalls, is very compact and neat. There are only 4 floors, you won’t get lost and everything is at your fingertips. The choice is excellent. Only the air conditioners are running at full power and we were very cold.
Siam Discovery
Siam Discovery is a store for youth and family shopping. This is far from being a shopping center that will have the low prices that other Bangkok retailers have, but Siam Discovery is very pleasant to be in from an aesthetic point of view: it is a very stylishly designed shopping center, here you forget that you are in Asia - the design is absolutely European.
But the presented goods are of local origin. So after shopping in Siam Discovery, you will acquire not only stylish clothes, but also the admiring glances of our Russian fashionistas! After all, local style is a harmonious combination of piquancy and grace. The Thais very quickly notice all the world's fashion trends and in a matter of days they produce entire collections that are affordable and adapted to real people with a wide variety of body types. You can safely come here for inspiration and ideas, which, in principle, is what numerous Western fashion bloggers, boutique merchandisers and aspiring designers do.
Siam Discovery is a huge hit among Thai stylish ladies.
For entertainment, there is the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and a hockey and figure skating rink.
One of my favorite malls in Bangkok. A lot of everything: entertainment, shopping, eating, and just drinking coffee... A peaceful, calm atmosphere with secluded corners allows you to relax and stay even the whole day; when you go out, you’ll be surprised that it’s already getting dark!
World famous: Siam Paragon
This is what the most fashionable luxury shopping center looks like.
Siam Paragon is one of the largest and most expensive shopping centers in Bangkok.
This is exactly the place where you come for the whole day just to walk around with your mouth open and give yourself and your loved ones pleasant gifts. It attracts a large number of visitors due to its wide range of services. There are not only luxury stores of world brands, but also restaurants, a cinema, more precisely, an IMAX cinema complex, a Thai art gallery, an aquarium with a capacity of 5 million liters of water, an opera concert and exhibition hall.
For entertainment, you can visit karaoke, there is also a California Wow fitness center and Blu-O Rhythm bowling alley with 30 lanes. There is even a music college here!
Kempinski Hotel Siam welcomes everyone, providing the high level of service characteristic of a 5-star hotel. Yes, yes, this place is so colossally huge that there was even room for a hotel!
Where is Siam Paragon Shopping Center in Bangkok?
Siam Paragon is located on Rama I Road in the Pathum Wan area. Next to the shopping center are Siam Discovery Center and Siam Center, opposite Siam Square. The Siam BTS Skytrain station links the Paragon shopping center with the large Ratchaprasong shopping area, which houses CentralWorld, Gaysorn and other shopping centers, as well as hotels.
Shops and boutiques Siam Paragon
The stores are located on a total area of 50,000 m². But an additional 40,000 m² is allocated for stores with luxury clothing brands, supercars, sports goods, electronics and equipment, as well as books. Boutiques are located here famous brands, in particular, Kenzo, Gucci, Valentino, Giorgio Armani, Chanel, Zara, Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Hugo Boss, etc. On the top floor there are stores of the most famous cars, such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.
Gastronomy can be purchased in shops and kiosks; the area covers an area of 8,000 m².
There are restaurants here where you can have a tasty meal. Moreover, this is not only national cuisine, but also European, there are even fast foods here.
Kinoplex IMAX
The multiplex cinema is located on 25,000 m², it has 14 halls, including small Ultra Screen cinema halls with inclined seats, a lounge for Enigma club members, an IMAX cinema hall, Siam Pavali with 1200 seats.
This is the most dizzying store I've ever seen.
Siam is, of course, amazing. What's cool is that there is a complex of buildings and shopping centers that include completely different brands from VIP to regular pan-European affordable brands. There are many restaurants and food courts, you can easily spend the whole day there, and in a day, it seems to me, it’s difficult to get around it. You can have a great time in the giant aquarium - a great place and will appeal to both adults and children. Beautiful large aquariums containing a wide variety of fish, crabs, sharks, stars and many other representatives of marine life, I recommend everyone to visit it! Feel free to go there, you will be amazed!
Siam Paragon Concert Hall
The Royal Paragon Hall concert hall is located on an area of 12,000 m², and its capacity is about 5 thousand people. It is perfect for conferences, concerts and exhibitions.

Shopping center MBK
Address: 444 Phayathai Rd, Bangkok, Pathumwan 10330, Thailand
Opening hours: 10:00-22:00
Phone: +66 2 620 9000
This is the oldest (since 1985), most legendary shopping center in Bangkok. But it is important to know that the peculiarity of MBK Center is that it is similar to a market, only vertical. Eight floors are filled with two thousand boutiques and shops with a very large selection and very low prices. In addition, most of the goods are fakes. Yes, yes, they sell fake iPhones, clothes, shoes, etc. So be careful when you buy your wife some Louis Vuitton for only 500 baht.
You can come to MBK not only for shopping: on the upper floors there is a large modern cinema, karaoke bars and restaurants - everything for a pleasant pastime. How to get there: Mah Boon Krong Center (hereinafter MBK) is located in the main shopping area of Pathumwan city, at the intersection of Rama I Road and Phaya Thai Road. The entire shopping area begins from this shopping center; Siam Discovery Center and Siam Square are located immediately opposite it. Most often, it is from the IBC that all visitors and tourists begin to make purchases.
A very good shopping center, which is divided into two parts with one entrance immediately from the pedestrian bridge near the ground METRO, where they sell branded clothing from well-known companies, produced in joint factories in Thailand, and in the second part of the building there are local light industrial products. In general, as a person who is very picky about the quality of things, I rarely bought anything in this center, since I prefer things made in Europe, especially shoes. But basically, I repeat, people who do not pay much attention to the origin of things will be pleasantly surprised by the assortment and prices in this center, especially when they fall into the discount season in spring and autumn.
Reminds me of an oriental bazaar: everything is just as bright, colorful and noisy. There is food, telephones, gold, Rolexes and silks nearby... after a couple of hours your head begins to spin. The downside is that, unlike most modern shopping centers, it is not possible to pay by card everywhere.
Here's a great video to watch to get a good idea of where you're going.
More reminiscent of a market than a modern center. Products are appropriate. If you want to buy replicas, I recommend the Chatuchak market - it’s more interesting, more exotic and the choice is two orders of magnitude larger.
The shopping center is huge; it will take three hours to walk through all the corridors of the center. But in fact, it’s just a market under a roof, where even the traders behave the same way as in the market - they bark, bargain, pester people passing by. The worst thing about this shopping center is the food court. At first glance, everything looks very good and the prices are not bad, but if you take a closer look, all the kitchens are simply infested with cockroaches! Insects crawl right on food! With cockroaches, I can eat on the street, there is no need to waste time on this shopping center, there are many excellent, beautiful and stylish shopping malls along Sukhumvit Street, such as Siam Discovery, Central Embassy, Emporium, Terminal 21.
Platinum Fashion Mall
Opening hours: 10:00 - 22:00
Location: Petchburi, Ratchathewi (next to Pantip Plaza and MBK)
BTS: Nearest BTS station Ratchathewi or Chit Lom. Not far from Pratunam market.
Shopaholics are crazy about this place, especially women. Basically, clothes are sold here with a very interesting price, primarily due to natural competition with the largest open-air market located next door. Prices are comparable to Chatuchak Weekend Market - a weekend market.
Platinum has an interesting pricing policy: if you buy three or more items, the price will be wholesale. Thus, you can buy clothes and accessories for yourself and friends, saving up to 30% of the cost.
Platinum Fashion Mall sells goods from all over the world, including Korean, Japanese, Indian and Chinese. Most of the floors are occupied by departments with women's clothing and shoes; in fact, the 4 first floors plus the underground are dedicated specifically to it. Men's and children's are noticeably smaller. There are also a lot of accessories: handbags, watches, cosmetics, hairpins, etc. There is a large selection of jeans on the underground floor. At 5 - everything for children, souvenirs, gift shops and bank branches. On the 6th there is a large food court (dining room and buffets), fast food restaurants, including KFC and McDonald's.
Personally, I prefer to shop in the shopping center - the conditions here are much more comfortable, first of all, air-conditioned air, which is important for the Thai climate. In addition, you can get a discount when purchasing multiple items.
The shopping center does not have original branded items, but you can find high-quality analog items or clothes from unknown Asian brands for inexpensive prices. The prices will pleasantly surprise you. In Platinum Fashion Mall you can bargain, sometimes you can discount up to 30% of the announced price. The center is aimed more at wholesale buyers, so you will be given a discount if you take more than one item. I always buy high-quality underwear and bed linen, T-shirts, sweaters, shirts and other clothes here. The items are of high quality, the best clothes I found in Bangkok were all purchased at Platinum.
City Complex: things for stylish youth
Address: Soi Phetchaburi 21 (Kanchana), Thanon Phaya Thai, Ratchathewi, Bangkok, Thailand.
Tel: +66 2 254 1999
This is one of the trendiest malls in Bangkok, catering mainly to teenagers and people in their 20s. It has 6 floors and all of them present really stylish clothes and accessories for young people. This is where all these amazing looks come together, which then simply “break” our patterns in the fashion industry. The City Complex has boutiques of the most famous Thai brands: Flynow III, men's Painkiller Atelier, Vatanika, Disaya and others.
Prices in the City Complex are average, in some boutiques where the clothes are branded - and the prices are appropriate. Although, to be honest, the prices for the same Mango, Zara, TopShop and the rest of H&M are absolutely the same as in our homeland. Since this is a non-wholesale store, you can get a discount here only if you have a club card (issued at the reception). But the things here are really interesting and unique, often designed by young designers in single copies, even HANDMADE is a magic spell word for all Thai fashionistas. An absolute must-have in everyone's image! So don’t waste your savings and be bold with your looks!
“After a holiday in Pattaya, my friend and I had about a thousand dollars left for shopping and souvenirs. We went to Bangkok, visited all the famous markets and shops. I was often scared by the quality of things (although the price was more than low, I don’t see the point in buying almost disposable clothes ), then the proposed styles were too quaint or old-fashioned. We already thought that the Thais had absolutely problems with taste... Until we found the City Complex on Pratunam! This is a very cool place! All our money reserves were spent here! I bought myself very beautiful sandals, several extraordinary dresses, designer handbags and, oh my, so many other cool things! So many looks collected!"
"Thai style is very unique - they love everything bright, short, tight-fitting or, conversely, with flounces and ruffles. They largely strive to recreate the images seen on the pages of Asian fashion magazines. All Thai, Chinese, Korean and Japanese magazines are full of fashionable outfits, which are a mixture of styles, textures, prints and colors. The main thing is that it is bright and catchy. This is the Asian “Baby doll”. Everyday youth clothing resembles outfits more suitable for a party in a nightclub. But this is only in the understanding of Europeans."
This shopping center is noticeably different from the ones I described above. City Complex in Bangkok is bought not by tourists and wholesalers, but by the local population: students, teenagers and just fashionistas. This is why there is so little information about this place on the Russian-language Internet. But I personally recommend that you at least just take a look into the world of Asian youth fashion! You will definitely take a few images or ideas to note!
Unforgettable shopping in Bangkok can also be done in the markets at low prices. If you are asking the question: “What to buy on the market?”, then the answer will be a huge range of products. These are souvenirs, shoes, jewelry, clothing, equipment, food, etc. If you need clothes, in BKK you can buy them at the Pratunam Market, Chatuchak Weekend Market and other markets that I have already described
For convenience, it is better to carry a calculator with you in order to show the seller the numbers. Shopping in Bangkok requires special attention to the quality of the products (keep receipts), as well as the authenticity of the products. Also, take a long-sleeved sweater with you; malls are often very cold due to air conditioning.
TOURISTS' ANSWERS:
What to buy in Bangkok?
It is not for nothing that the Thai capital is considered one of the world's trade centers. The number of markets and shopping centers here is off the charts. And the product has reasonable prices. The quality, unfortunately, is often poor, but not always and not everywhere. So, what can you buy in Bangkok?
Thai silk and textiles
One of the most magnificent purchases in Bangkok will be Thai silk: a piece of fabric or clothing made from it - a dress, suit, tie or scarf. Also, when shopping in Bangkok, it is worth remembering textiles, cotton, wool and cashmere - all of this is of excellent quality and at reasonable prices.
fashion clothes
The amount of fashionable clothing, both original branded clothing and inexpensive counterfeits of very dubious quality, in Bangkok is off the charts. They sell it everywhere here: at markets, in shopping centers and just on the street.
Jewelry
In Bangkok, it is worth buying pearl and silver jewelry with sapphires and amethysts, as well as rubies and diamonds, but you should be wary of fakes. In this regard, you should only buy jewelry in specialized stores that have a license and a Jewel Fest Club certificate.
Decor items and furniture
Designer Asian-style furniture made from natural materials, as well as interior items, are also worth purchasing in Bangkok - such an abundance of items made from bamboo, rattan and teak at reasonable prices is difficult to find in another Asian city. Many stores cooperate with transportation companies, so delivering bulky and fragile goods to their homeland is not a problem now.
Photo, video and computer equipment
The widest selection of TVs, computers, cameras, video cameras and much, much more - entire floors are dedicated to electronics in Bangkok shopping centers. You can find both original manufacturers with factories in Thailand, and Chinese fakes at very low prices.
Where to shop?
Chatuchak Market
The most popular market in Bangkok, of incredible size, more than 8 thousand tents and benches, where you can find almost everything and at ridiculous prices. Here you can find: clothes and shoes, ceramics, folk art, leather goods, household items, costume jewelry and jewelry, and much more. Here you can and should bargain. Also in the market area there are many stalls with food, very cheap and very tasty. The market is open only on weekends, from 9 am to 6 pm. It is better to come here early so as not to suffocate from the stuffiness, smells and crowds. You should hide your money and be aware of thieves - there are many of them here. The market can be reached via the above-ground (Mo Chit station) or underground metro (Kamphaeng Phet or Chatuchang Park stations).
Bo Bae Market
The largest wholesale market in the Thai capital, here you can find everything that you can find in other popular markets in the city or street stalls, but at lower prices. Part of the trade at the market is carried out in the open air, part - under the roof of the BoBae Tower building. Here you can find women's, men's and children's clothing, textiles, and household accessories. When purchasing in bulk, there are significant discounts. The market is open every day and is located between Thanon Damrong Rak and Krung Kasem Road. The most convenient way to get here is by taxi - water or regular land taxi.
Shopping in Pratunam
The Pratunam area is traditionally considered the territory of cheap shopping. One of the main places is Pratunam, a huge indoor market with clothes, including home clothes, underwear, textiles, as well as shoes and watches at very low prices. Like everywhere else in the markets, you have to bargain here.
In the same area there is the Grand Diamond Plaza shopping center, where you can buy clothes, shoes, jewelry and cosmetics, and the Platinum Fashion Mall Bangkok shopping center, located in two buildings, where you can again find clothes, shoes, as well as leather goods and souvenirs . There are many catering outlets here: cafes with local cuisine and McDonald's with Baskin Robins. Also in the Pratunam quarter are the Indra Square, Krung Thong Plaza and City Complex shopping centers with, again, standard Thai goods.
Night market Suan Lum Night Bazaar
An ideal place to buy Thai souvenirs is the Suan Lum night market. Your eyes are wide open from the abundance of all kinds of magnets, cups, plates, watches, T-shirts with inscriptions, items made from Thai silk and much, much more. In addition, the market has a large number of shops and cafes with food, as well as live music.
Central World
Ultra-modern and largest shopping and entertainment center in all of Southeast Asia. Under one roof there are more than 500 shops, 50 restaurants, cinemas, a bowling alley, a children's play area and a huge supermarket. This complex is a shopaholic's paradise with entire streets of boutiques with fashion brands, jewelry, fabric stores, furniture and antiques stores.
Siam Paragon
The best shopping and entertainment complex in Bangkok. Fashion brands, expensive jewelry boutiques, high prices, an aquarium under the Siam Ocean World building - this is all Siam Paragon. The products here are of high quality and original ideas. The real shopping in the Thai capital begins here on five floors and five hundred thousand square meters with 250 luxury boutiques. The shopping center is located near the Siam metro station.
Tax refund
For a one-time purchase of 2,000 baht, it is possible to return VAT - about 7 percent of the amount. To do this, you need to make a purchase in a store with a special white and blue logo indicating the possibility of Tax-Free, provide the seller with a passport and fill out a yellow form called VAT Refund Application for Tourist form.
To return VAT, you must leave the country through one of the international airports no later than 60 days after purchase. At the border you must present a passport, a form with the original and checks in the amount of at least 5,000 baht and purchased unopened goods. The money is returned directly at the airport, at counters marked VAT Refund, provided that the amount does not exceed 30 thousand baht. If the amount is higher, the money is transferred to the card specified in the application. For paperwork and Tax-free returns, a fee of 100 Thai baht is charged.

Bangkok seems to be made for shopping. Any tourist who comes to relax in Bangkok or neighboring resorts cannot help but be tempted by the opportunity to stroll through the local shopping centers and huge markets. At the same time, you can go shopping to Bangkok either on your own or by purchasing a shopping tour at any excursion agency. Shopping in Bangkok is tailored to suit any financial capabilities, so even with a modest budget you can please yourself with good purchases here. And you can really find and buy everything here: from souvenirs and clothes, to electronics and jewelry.
In Bangkok, even if you did not set out to purchase things, jewelry, souvenirs, you will, one way or another, acquire something, even if you did not need it. Trade is everywhere here: on the streets, in markets, in popular tourist spots, in shopping centers.
The latter are open to you, for example, if you prefer high-quality, branded items. Most of them are located in the Pratunam and Siam areas. For example, the luxury shopping center Siam Paragon, located in the very center of the city, among high-rise buildings, offers things from famous world brands - Calvin Klein, Nina Ricci, Chanel, Prada, etc.
Also in the city center is one of the most popular shopping malls among tourists - Central World. This is a giant center where you can buy things from popular brands - Guess, ZARA, Esprit, Benetton, Sultanna Frantsuzova, etc.
MBK (Mahbunkrgong) is a shopaholic's paradise. It is also a very popular shopping complex, aimed primarily at tourists. On the eight floors of the complex, goods are sold at very affordable prices, but here you need to be prepared for the fact that the item will not be original.
There are a lot of shopping malls in Bangkok - The Emporium, Amarin Plaza (luxury-level centers), Siam Center Bangkok (a center aimed at young people), Platinum Fashion Mall (a popular center next to the market of the same name), Pantip Plaza (IT center, for lovers electronics) and many others - and it is impossible to get through them all even in a few days.
In addition, Bangkok shopping centers often host seasonal sales, where you can purchase quality goods at bargain prices.
And Bangkok street markets are an excellent alternative for people on a small budget. They sell everything you can imagine: clothes, shoes, accessories, jewelry, suitcases, interior items, furniture, souvenirs, flowers, antiques, animals and everything else you can think of. The most popular markets in Bangkok are Chatuchak Night Market and Pratunam Market. They are really huge, so much so that it’s easy to get lost in them.
At the weekend market - Chatuchak Market - at the entrance you can purchase a market map with a description of the trading areas. The market occupies a gigantic territory, where you can walk all day and not see everything. It is better to buy the goods you like here right away, since there is a high probability that you will not be able to find this place again. The market is fully operational on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but many traders open their outlets on other days as well.
Pratunam Market is also very popular among tourists and a very huge market in Bangkok, where you can buy clothes of all brands, albeit unoriginal and not of very high quality. But the prices are several times lower. In addition to clothes, as in any market, of course, the assortment includes souvenirs, belts, bags, suitcases, jewelry - and much more. The market is located next to a popular tourist spot - Baijok Sky Tower - and close to many hotels, so many sellers inflate prices, so feel free to haggle.

Bangkok is popular among tourists not only because of its attractions and entertainment. This city is also a major global shopping center; you will hardly be able to leave the capital of Thailand without shopping. The advantages of this city in terms of trade are the low cost of goods and the high level of their quality, as well as the ability to bargain for prices. Visitors are mainly attracted to Bangkok by traditional silk and cotton products, as well as jewelry, the choice of which is huge, and a variety of fabrics. The price range is very wide, and the quality of goods also varies accordingly, so some tourists buy diamonds, emeralds and sapphires here, while others buy more affordable semi-precious topazes, opals and jades. Shopping lovers in Bangkok will always find somewhere to quench their thirst for shopping - at street stalls with cheap (but not very high-quality) goods that you can bargain for, in many boutiques with shining windows, or in huge shopping centers where they can not only -they will buy it, but overall they will have a pleasant time.
There are a large number of shopping establishments scattered throughout the city; they can be found in any of the districts, however, most of them, of course, are located in places where tourists gather. One of these places is the district Silom along with a street of the same name. This shopping center is of great commercial importance to the city. Here, in large quantities There are shops and boutiques representing famous brands, world-famous fashion houses, as well as simpler retail establishments. This area is home to the Robinson's shopping center, Central Department Store, and other similar establishments.
Here, every shopaholic will find a true paradise. Silom offers a wide range of goods, there are many antique shops, jewelry stores, shops where you can buy ceramics, clothes, souvenirs, electronics and much more. An extension of Silom Street is New Road, home to the City Shopping Complex and Oriental Plaza, where you will find a wide selection of paintings, jewelry and clothing.
Patpong Night Market
Patpong Street diagonally intersects Surawong Road and Silom Road. In the evening, this place in the capital of Thailand becomes the center of all its trade. The amazing Patpong Night Market opens at 7:00 pm. Two hours before the opening, a large number of workers assemble retail spaces from metal structures and install a lighting system. Patpong is open until 02:00, but it will be best if you arrive here after 23:00 - at this time most tourists leave, and it will be easier for you to bargain to reduce the cost of goods.
Chinatown
This area is probably the most exotic in Bangkok. Those who live here have considered themselves Thai for quite a long time, they do not speak Chinese, but their native culture has left its imprint everywhere - in the unique architecture, in many traditional gastronomic establishments.
The main street in this area is Yowarat, which is also its main financial artery. Here you can find more than one hundred and thirty jewelry trading establishments where the main product is gold. It often happens that Chinatown itself is called the “Golden Road”. All the shops here are painted red and gold. By the way, most of the shops are members of the Gold Traders Association, so ninety-nine percent of the gold you find here is real.
Chinatown is home to Talat Khao, Sampeng and Khlong markets. On the first you can find gastronomic exotics that are supplied to Chinese restaurants, the second is a fabric trading center in the city, and the third offers a huge assortment of household appliances and electronics.
